Arianna Painting Statement:
I create lyrical and atmospheric landscape abstractions that range from larger scale oil and natural pigment paintings on Belgian linen, to small, paper and woven collages framed in wood. I have passion for capturing the feeling of a place through light and movement using natural materials. I find joy in making paintings of uncertainty-paintings that are alive, and spontaneous mental representations of place- in this case, of Napa Valley.
Arianna Painting Bio:
Arianna Spiros was raised in Northport, New York and has spent significant time in New Orleans, Cape Town, Miami, Europe and Napa Valley. She studied international development and international economics at Tulane University in New Orleans and KU Leuven in Brussels, in addition to painting at Columbia University in New York. Currently, she loves working creatively on KALÍ ZOË, the fine jewelry and art studio she founded with her sister, Callie. Her paintings range from larger scale oil and natural pigments on Belgian linen, to collages framed in wood, and they aim to capture the feeling of a place through light and movement. She has been inspired, artistically, by Richard Diebkenkorn’s notes of light and color to depict place, and Helen Frankenthaler’s lush and lyrical works.
